Wetpixel’s Digital Shootout in Bonaire Day 4

Posted under Underwater Photography by Tim Yang

Here are the shots from the participants. I particularly liked Kathy Krucker’s shot of the trumpetfish swimming ontop of the parrotfish. And Tony Granata’s closely cropped shot of the speckled moray eel featuring great detail of its upper palate.

Scuba Show 2007 photography winner

Posted under Underwater Photography by Tim Yang

Undertheblue 2007 winnerThe 2007 Scuba Show underwater photography competition, Under the Blue, just announced its winners. The best of the show went to Yeang Chng of USA in the category “Majesty of the Sea” for a shot he called “Cuttlefish”. The photo description says it’s a female cuttlefish in the blue water mangroves of Raja Ampat Islands, West Papua. He shot it with a Canon 1Ds Mark II with Seacam housing and Inon Z240 strobe at 1/250 @ f/20, ISO 100.

Have a closer look at the image. I’m sorry but is this a photography competition or a Photoshop skill competition? I hate it when photographers confuse the two.

It doesn’t say what he won. I hope it was a roll of film. A used roll.

(Yeah, I’m mean.)
